Planning and Zoning Commission
Purpose
The purpose and object of the Planning and Zoning Commission is to act as an advisory board to the Council in matters designated by ordinance and state law. Except for matters relating to city parks, which are delegated by the Council to the Parks and Recreation Board, the Commission shall advise the Council on matters relating to zoning, public improvements, civic improvements, city planning, opening, widening and changing of streets, routing of public utilities, controlling and regulating traffic upon the public streets and ways of the City and such other matters relating to City improvements as the Commission and the Council may deem beneficial to the City.
Meetings
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the first and third Thursdays of the month, following the first Tuesday, and as deemed necessary by the Chairman. The meetings typically begin with a work session at 6:00 PM. The Commission uses the work session to receive reports and information from staff. No votes can be taken or decisions made at this time. The regular session begins around 6:30 p.m. (or immediately following the work session) in the Council Chambers in Southlake Town Hall. Development cases are considered during the regular session. Occasionally, meetings may begin earlier or later based on topics to be considered during work session or due to scheduling conflicts with other meetings. Please refer to the Current Agendas page for the latest Planning & Zoning Commission Agenda, which includes the correct meeting start time for the work session and regular session.
The meetings are broadcast live at the time they occur on City cable channel Charter cable channel 27 and Verizon Fios Channel 34. They can also be viewed live on the City's website on the Southlake Video on Demand page.
P&Z meetings are rebroadcast on the City Cable Channel Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m., and are always available on Southlake Video on Demand.
