What does SPIN do?
SPIN enhances information flow between the city and citizens through a variety of means.
SPIN Citywide Forums
SPIN Citywide Forums are open meetings that are held for public discussion of items of interest in the community, such as residential or commercial development projects and public works projects. City staff provides meeting reports to the Planning and Zoning Commission, City Council, city's webmaster and the City Manager's office.
SPIN Regional Forums
SPIN Regional Forums are hosted periodically throughout the year and feature topics of interest to the local community. Past forums have centered around issues related to transportation, safety and local elections.
City Council Interaction
SPIN also relies on interaction with City Council to ensure that neighborhood concerns are heard. The Southlake City Council meets jointly with the SPIN Standing Committee at least two times each year.
Networking
Networking is another great way that SPIN works to both gather and relay information to the community. SPIN Representatives network with their neighbors, city officials, and community stakeholders in order to develop an effective partnership and communication framework.
Marketing Materials
Marketing materials are also used as a means of communication. The SPIN staff liaison develops and implements marketing concepts and materials - such as postcards, water bill inserts, e-mail notices and handouts - in order to enable all Southlake residents to have full information to better understand and act on issues that concern them.
Meeting Notification System
SPIN uses an automated phone system to notify residents about upcoming SPIN meetings. Click here to learn more about this system.
SPIN Representative
Each SPIN area has a representative that is tuned into the communication channels within the City. Representatives can be used as a resource to ensure quicker responses by channeling questions residents may have about neighborhood issues.
SPIN Website
The SPIN website (www.southlakespin.org) includes information on upcoming and past forums, SPIN representative contact information, as well as links to other areas of the city's website containing development information.
Roadway Signs
Signs are placed throughout the city to notify residents of upcoming SPIN meetings.
