Records Requests
The Southlake DPS Records Division maintains records generated from police action or response of the Southlake Police, including: arrest, offense, and accident reports. For open records requests related to other information, please visit the City Secretary's Records Information Page.
Police Records and Accident Reports
Copies of police records may be obtained by contacting the DPS Records Division. Copies of Accident Reports (generated after July 1, 2008) may be obtained online.
For reports generated before July 1, 2008, a form needs to be mailed, faxed, or returned in person to the Records Division between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. There may be a charge, depending on the quantity of copies and time involved to research the information.
Non-Releasable Information
The following types of information are not public and will either not be provided or will be removed from police reports that are provided:
- All information related to a juvenile involved in a criminal act.
- Names of victims of sex crimes and the details related to such crimes.
- The names of suspects involved in a criminal offense if they have not yet been arrested.
- The release of information on an ongoing investigation, if the release of the information could prevent the arrest and prosecution of a suspect.
- All information relating to child abuse victims.
- Individuals needing copies of records or documents should submit a Request for Information form to the Records Division. Texas law allows 10 business days to reply to a public information request, but it is our goal to provide the information as soon as possible.
Public Information Requests
For requests not related to Police records, the Southlake City Secretary's office has a separate form available on their website. To obtain information, you should submit a written request (mail, fax, e-mail or in person) that includes enough description and detail about the information requested to enable identifying and locating the items requested.
