ONLINE PAYMENT KEY INFORMATION
Warning:
A payment via the Internet will be processed as a plea of “no contest” or “guilty.” Any online payment (without prior appearance before a judge for this specific case) will result in a final conviction. If applicable, such convictions will be reported to the Texas Department of Public Safety or to the state from which your driver’s license has been issued for inclusion on your driving record.
Online Payment Basics
- 24-hour access- Fines may be paid over the Internet 24 hours a day, using a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit/debit card.
- Payment and Convenience Fee:
A convenience fee of $6.00 is added for every payment via the Internet. Payment for multiple violations made at the same time incur only one $6.00 fee. - Age Restriction: You (the defendant) must be 18 years or older to make an online payment. Payments for cases involving anyone under the age of 18 are not payable online. See Special Notes #2 below.
- Warning: A single violation can be paid on a citation with multiple violations; however, paying one violation does not excuse your appearance requirements for any remaining violations.
Online Payments CAN be Made for the Following:
- Payments in-full for cases closing as a conviction. This would typically include any parking citation, other non-moving violations such as those for expired registration and motor vehicle inspection, head-lamp/ tail-lamp and other equipment violations, and adult seat-belt violations. - Cases other than a conviction for which a prior appearance before a judge has occurred and the Judge granted an extended time to pay.
Online Payments CANNOT be Made for the Following:
- Alcohol, Drug or Tobacco Violations (Defendants under 21). See Special Notes #2 below.
- Juveniles (age 16 or younger)– State law requires that juveniles make a personal appearance with a parent or legal guardian before the judge. See Special Notes #3 below.
- Under Age 18: No payments are accepted online when the defendant is under the age of 18 on the date of citation.
- Payment for Deferred Disposition or Driving Safety Course options. See Special Notes #1 below.
- No dismissal fee can be paid online.
- Cash bonds (to secure a court date) cannot be paid online.
- Partial payments cannot be paid online until after a court hearing appearance and the court has approved partial or extended payment.
- Active Warrants cannot be paid online. Click here for information on clearing an active warrant.
- Payments to secure a person’s release from jail cannot be made online.
